I knew I was going to love this wedding. When I first met Melissa last year she had a scrapbook filled to the brim with magazine clippings, photos, notes, even fabric samples! She had a very clear vision of what she wanted. Last week when I walked in the door at The Barn and Gazebo it was amazing to see those ideas come to life. Talk about details! Billy and Melissa love hunting together. I am not exaggerating when I say together (Melissa shot her first buck a week before their wedding)! To convey their passion for hunting, they wanted to incorporate antlers as the main theme of their wedding (Billy’s wedding ring is actually made from real deer antlers ).
Laurie with Laurie’s Back Porch floral did a wonderful job of turning Melissa’s vision into reality with lovely wild flowers. Old farmhouse windows displayed photos from the couples’ engagement session (link coming soon!) An old picket fence held lace hankies for guests to “dry their tears”. Family and friends collected vintage dishes and silverware throughout the year to serve as place settings at the reception. Antique furniture (even an antique stove!), was brought in to hold the desserts and add to the homey feeling. The rustic, antler themed invitations were created by Kaylen and Rant and Rave Invitations.
Another very apparent thread in this wedding was Billy and Melissa’s love for their family. Their cake was Billy’s mom’s homemade apple cake and zucchini bread (yum)! Guests went away with mason jars of Melissa’s grandmother’s homemade strawberry rhubarb jam. Speaking of Grandma, she actually officiated the ceremony! What a gift that was to Billy and Melissa, and I’m sure Grandma Barbie was honored to do it!
All of these beautiful details created a lovely backdrop for this wonderful couple to say their vows. Enjoy the photos!
